6 Tips for LinkedIn Business Page Success

Originally published April 2024 - Updated June 2026

LinkedIn is one of the most underused platforms for small businesses — and that's actually good news, because it means there's real opportunity there if you show up well. A LinkedIn Business Page is free to set up and can be a genuinely powerful tool for building credibility, getting found in search and connecting with the right people.

Here are six things that make the difference between a page that sits there doing nothing and one that actually works for your business.

1. Make it look professional

Your LinkedIn Business Page is often the first place someone goes to verify that your business is legitimate. A blurry logo, a missing cover image or an incomplete profile immediately undermines the impression you're trying to make.

Use a high resolution version of your logo and create a cover image that clearly communicates what you do and how to get in touch. Check LinkedIn's recommended image sizes before uploading — using the wrong dimensions is one of the most common mistakes and it's an easy fix.

2. Write a headline and description that actually say something

Your page description is prime SEO real estate. Use it to clearly explain what your business does, who you help and what makes you different. Think about the words and phrases your ideal clients might search for and weave them in naturally.

Avoid vague language like "passionate about helping businesses grow" — be specific about what you do and for whom.

3. Make it easy for people to get in touch

Include your website URL, email address and location so anyone who finds your page can take the next step without having to go looking. It sounds obvious but it's surprisingly common for business pages to make contact harder than it needs to be.

4. Use a clear call to action

LinkedIn Business Pages let you add a custom button — use it. Whether that's "Visit website", "Contact us" or "Book now", make sure it links somewhere useful and tells people exactly what to do next.

5. Post consistently

This is the one that makes the biggest difference over time. LinkedIn rewards pages that show up regularly — consistent posting keeps your page active, improves your visibility in the algorithm and builds familiarity with your audience.

You don't need to post every day. Once or twice a week is enough to stay visible and build momentum. According to LinkedIn, business pages that post weekly see twice the engagement of those that post less frequently.

6. Optimise for search

Fill out every section of your LinkedIn Business Page — specialities, industry, location and all. This isn't just good housekeeping, it directly affects how easily people can find you when they're searching on LinkedIn or on Google.

Use relevant keywords throughout your page copy, particularly in your tagline and about section, and make sure your specialities reflect the services you actually offer.

A well optimised LinkedIn Business Page can make a real difference to how your business is perceived and how easily new clients find you.
